Just got back from the team meeting. Sad to say that Shane did not get a slopestyle spot. Needless to say that Shane is very disappointed. USSA has decided they would only give alternate spots to replace skiers that were injured during practice.
On the bright side, he got to practice with the other central division skiers and now he can focus on the event he came for. Shane will begin big air practice tomorrow.
There are some big changes to this event from years past. It used to be a combined score of two jumps. Now it's best of two. The jumps will now be judged on overall impression rather then degree of difficulty. It will be interesting to see how these changes affect the outcome.
